Description
Location. The Megara Palace Hotel is located in Istanbul, Turkey, within 100 metres of both the 15th century Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque, 200 metres from Hagia Sophia Museum, and two kilometres from the Grand Bazaar. Sultanahmet tram station is 500 metres from the hotel.
Hotel Features. The Megara Palace Hotel is housed in a modern five floor property. Guests can relax with a complimentary newspaper and a drink from the bar in the air conditioned lobby, which has a Turkish atmosphere. Multilingual staff at the 24 hour front desk can exchange currency, and provide tour assistance and translation services. Transport from Istanbul Ataturk airport can be arranged and costs 12 EUR per person.
A complimentary buffet breakfast is served each morning. The onsite restaurant overlooks the Bosphorus and the Topkap? Palace, and specialises in traditional Turkish dishes. Live music is played in the evenings.
The hotel offers complimentary wireless Internet access.
Guestrooms. The 24 air conditioned guestrooms are decorated in warm tones of beige and brown, with dark wood floors and furnishings. All have satellite television, radios, minibars, complimentary wireless Internet access, direct dial phones and complimentary bottled water.
Expert Tip. The Topkap? Palace, 100 metres from the hotel, was for 400 years the heart of the Ottoman Empire. The palace is a fine example of Ottoman architecture and serves as a museum for the accumulated treasures, including porcelain, weapons, manuscripts and jewellery.

Under the Turkish Ministry for Tourism, hotels and other tourist residences in Turkey are rated as per a set of national standards. There are seven categories of rating in operation: one star to five star hotels, 'Special Class' hotels and 'Boutique Class' hotels. Currently this hotel has no official grading from the Turkish Ministry for Tourism but it is represented on this site with a star rating for our customers' benefit.

Distance to the Megara Palace Hotel is 20 kilometres, approximately 30 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Both airport terminals are connected to the metro system, which runs to the city centre. Single tickets cost about 1 TRY. The Havas Airport bus departs every 30 minutes for the main bus terminal and Taksim Square, in central Istanbul. Journey time is about 30 minutes. Bus number 96 runs between the airport and the city centre, and a shuttle bus runs to the port. Taxis wait outside Arrivals; fixed prices are in place and the fare to the city centre should be about 20 TRY 30 TRY. At night, there is a 50 per cent surcharge. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. Istanbul's extensive public transport system includes buses, metros (underground trains), trains, trams, sea buses, and ferries. Tickets can be purchased from main stops, stations, or kiosks prior to boarding. Istanbul's yellow taxis are reasonably priced, but travellers should ensure the meter is used. A cheaper alternative is to use a 'dolmus' (minibus or shared taxi). Driving is not advised for visitors.

Rome
Old Rome was the heart of Roman medieval and Renaissance periods. It features Italy's most beautiful plazas, cathedrals and antique monuments such as the Pantheon, the Roman Forum and the Colosseum reaching back as far as 2000 years. The Vatican: The Vatican is a state on its own. The Papal City State with an endless treasure troves of sights, relics and the world-known Vatican museum. Only a few minutes walk south the Vatican City you will find Trastevere. An array of narrow cobbled streets and lonely plazas served artists like Giorgio de Chirico as the inspiration for their works.
